Actually this is more of an update. I haven’t been blogging in a while. I have been busy with attending the California Library Association Conference in Long Beach and visiting my folks.
I had a great time at the conference and learned alot. For more information about the conference and CLA please go to http://www.cla-net.org/
There were lots of great speakers, presentations and exhibits. I really enjoyed Infopeople’s Technology “petting zoo.” I played with all sorts of technology. WII, IPhones, etc. I really worked up a sweat playing tennis with WII. Unfortuntely I am as bad at WII bowling as I am at the real game.
Infopeople also sponsored Ray Bradbury’s interview. I can never decide which book I like best–Martian Chronicles or Fahrenheit 451? Do you have a favorite Bradbury book?
CLA had great speakers: I really enjoyed listening to Sarah Vowell
“Bear” with me. this is my first posting. I guess bears are on my mind right now because of the new exhibit it at the San Francisco Zoo. Grizzly Bear Gulch they call it. Check it out at http://www.sfzoo.org/new/#486. I haven’t seen it yet but saw an ad for it. Which reminds me of Bear in Mind, a great exhibit that the Bancroft Library put on a while ago.
Also, we are having a bearish market. Although my knowledge of the market is slim, but growing.
I also love Smokey the Bear. I was a member of his club when I was a child and I know that influenced me to become a conservationist. But, “I digress” as Josh Kornbluth says.
I visited Lincoln National Forest where Smokey the Bear was found and I also saw him several times at the National Zoo. I even dressed as Smokey for a costume party for Zookeepers held at the National Zoo. I ran around with a skirt bottle putting out people’s cigarettes. This was back in the 70s when people smoked everywhere. We even had a chimpanzee at the Baltimore zoo who smoke cigarettes.
